Tools for Living

Support Services For Caregivers of Individuals With a Brain Injury1

As a caregiver, you need to also focus on your own needs to help your loved one through the steps of recovery, psychological healing and growth. Tools for Living provides practical information, and the individual telephone support ensures that you understand the information and are able to use it effectively.

The ideal system is a coaching model. As a coach, I know that you are the expert in making decisions. You are in a time of change and challenge, you want to create something positive, and you want to make sure that the actions you take are the right ones for you and your loved one. You may be stuck in patterns of behavior that are not working in these changed circumstances, and you want to identify better ways of coping.

As a coach, it is my job to be knowledgeable about the resource material, to ask clear and directed questions, to brainstorm for solutions, and to assist you in formulating plans of action. Overall, I am pro-active and interested in assisting you to getting to where you want to be.

Through coaching you learn to:

  • set attainable goals,
  • create positive problem-solving techniques,
  • decrease stress and frustration,
  • improve negotiating skills,
  • integrate your roles of caregiver, parent and individual successfully.

A complimentary coaching session is available if you have purchased Tools for Living. To set up a session or for more information, call 604-525-5401 (or send me an email). During the call, a time for the session will be arranged, and you will be given the code to access an initial questionnaire (on this site.
