Professional Experience:
Leadership & Management
Managers and entrepreneurs use my skills to develop systems and build an
atmosphere that motivates staff to thrive and learn.
I enjoy building partnerships within the community, and supervising and
mentoring professional staff and students.
Strategic Planning
Teams in successful small companies and non-profit agencies understand that
change is inevitable, and use my experience to move positively through major
developmental and transformational stages.
I am a founding director of
SEEDS (Self-Employment and Entrepreneur Development Society).
Project Management
Since 2005, I have provided leadership in the planning and re-development of
the New View Society in the
TriCities of B.C.
All relevant facets were completed with enthusiasm: from evacuating an aging
building and formulating a new vision for the property and provision of
expanded mental health services, to coordinating raising funds for new
construction ($4 million) and ensuring a positive working relationship with
external partners.
Construction begins in November 2009 (see the
New View Society web site for details).
Coaching
Professionals use resourcefulness and creativity to make changes in their
leadership performance and personal development.
Acting as a thinking partner, I create a trusting environment that assists
individuals in challenging themselves to reach their goals.
Program & Business Planning
Maintaining existing programs, evaluating results, researching funding sources,
reviewing plans for new businesses, and developing budgets is a constant
priority for agencies and small businesses.
My repertoire includes developing innovative proposals for career development
programs and entrepreneurial services.
Rehabilitation Training
A specific expertise in psychosocial rehabilitation has led to the creation of
a range of courses, including "An Introduction to Vocational Rehabilitation"
and "Advanced Rehabilitation Studies" (the latter with Dr. Jody Hawley).
These courses are offered through groups such as
Douglas College (New
Westminster, B.C.) and
ENET Educational Society (various locations across B.C.)
Communication Skills
The number one skill in all endeavors is communication.
I have therefore customized creative presentations, seminars and courses on
diverse subjects, such as project management, stress reduction and team
building.
Experience
Director of Rehabilitation ( New View Society),
Board Director, Instructor ( Douglas College),
On-line Instructor, Vocational Services Manager, Therapist,
Rehabilitation Counsellor, Coordinator, and Researcher.
These positions have been held in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia,
Victoria, B.C., and Hamburg, Germany.
PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS & MEMBERSHIPS
ALLIANCES
I have formed strong alliances with a range of professionals.
In those instances where additional expertise is needed, I use their resources
to ensure the highest possible level of support.
They include accountants, business consultants, business owners, psychologists,
educational trainers, rehabilitation specialists, and marketing consultants.
